Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo
International Spiritual Teacher, Author, & Spiritual Catalyst for Peace

We honor Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo as the Beloved Woman of Sunray Meditation Society

The BELOVED WOMAN is a place of honor in the Cherokee tradition for the woman who has demonstrated extraordinary wisdom and loving kindness. Her voice and direction are highly respected.

In 1976 a meeting between Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo and His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, the late head of the Nyingmapa school of Tibetan Buddhism occurred. This meeting had been foretold by prophecies from both the Native American and Tibetan Buddhist traditions. In the 8th century Guru Padmasambhava foretold of the Dharma spreading west from Tibet. "When the iron bird flies and ponies run on wheels," he said, "the Dharma will spread to the land of the red men." Venerable Dhyani's grandparents had see visions of their people meeting men with red hats, similar to those worn by Tibetan masters.

VENERABLE DHYANI YWAHOO is unique as a Teacher, carrying three intact streams of ancient spiritual wisdom. She is:

The 27th generation lineage holder of the ancestral Ywahoo lineage in the Tsalagi/Cherokee tradition.

A respected Teacher of Vajrayana in the Drikung Kagyu and Nyingma traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

Chief of the Green Mountain Band of the Aniyunwiwa (Cherokee).

The founder and Spiritual Director of:

  • Sunray Mediation Society
  • Sunray Peace Village Land Trust
  • Vajra Dakini Nunnery
